• Only people who live in the Metamora Township High School District can participate.

• You must show proof of residency (ID or utility bill).

• Every hunting group must have at least one youth hunter (under 18 with a youth permit).

• Groups can have up to 4 people total, including adults.

• Youth hunters must be supervised by a licensed adult age 21+ at all times.

• No one under 18 can come unless they are a bona fide youth hunter.

• You must apply.

• Applying does not guarantee you’ll be accepted.

• The Park District can approve, deny, or remove anyone at any time for safety or rule violations.

• They may use a lottery or ranking system to choose participants.

• If accepted, you will receive a limited license to hunt only in the areas and on the dates the Park District assigns.

• This license can be taken away at any time if the rules are broken.

• Fees cover admin costs — they do not guarantee access or success.

You must carry all required Illinois hunting documents:

• Hunting license

• Deer archery permit (or youth permit)

• Habitat stamp

You must show these if asked.

• Only during the dates the Park District assigns.

• Hours: ½ hour before sunrise to ½ hour after sunset.

• Scouting is allowed only during the designated scouting window — no placing stands early.

Bows:

• Only compound bows and crossbows are allowed.

• Longbows and recurve bows are NOT allowed, even though they’re legal elsewhere.

Tree stands & blinds:

• Must be portable.

• No permanent structures.

• No screw‑in steps or anything that damages trees.

• All equipment must be labeled with your name and contact info.

• You must remove everything at the end of your assigned period.

Trail cameras:

• Not allowed at all.

• Must wear 400 square inches of blaze orange, visible from all directions.

• No shooting within 100 yards of trails, roads, parking lots, playgrounds, shelters, or other public areas.

• Only take safe shots with a clear backdrop.

• Must use a full‑body harness when in a tree stand.

• If non‑hunters come near, you must stop hunting until they leave.

• You must harvest one antlerless deer first before you can take a buck.

• A buck is defined as having antlers 3 inches or longer.
  

Reporting:

• Tag the deer immediately.

• Report the harvest to IDNR the same day (by 10 p.m.).

• Also, fill out the Park District’s harvest report and management log.

• No motorized vehicles (ATVs, UTVs, etc.) unless the Park District gives written permission.

• If a deer goes onto private property or restricted areas:

  • You must get permission before entering.

  • You must notify the Park District or a Conservation Police Officer.

• You’ll get a vehicle permit for your assigned hunting period.

• Must park only in designated areas.

• Must enter and exit only through approved access points.

• No driving or parking on grass, trails, or service roads.

• Unauthorized parking may result in towing.

• No alcohol, cannabis, or drugs before or during hunting.

• Illegal substances are banned at all times.

• Violations mean immediate removal and possible permanent ban.

• The Park District does not guarantee deer, hunting success, or good conditions.

• No refunds or rescheduling if you don’t see deer.

You Accept the Risks

Hunting is dangerous. You agree you understand that and accept all risks.

You Release the Park District

You agree not to sue the Park District if you get hurt, your property is damaged, or something goes wrong — unless Illinois law prohibits that type of waiver.

You Agree to Pay for Damages You Cause

If your actions cause harm or break rules, you agree to cover the costs.

Medical Emergencies

The Park District can call for emergency help if needed, and you agree to pay any medical bills.

If the Participant Is a Minor

A parent/guardian must sign and agree to:

• Allow the minor to participate

• Accept all risks

• Follow all rules

• Indemnify the Park District for claims involving the minor
